New volunteers to help shore side or afloat are always very welcome at Poole Sailability. A willingness to help, a friendly outgoing nature, and a little commitment is required. For those who will be sailing, a skill level equivalent to RYA Level 2 or Day Skipper is essential. Potential helpers will be invited to attend a sailing session to see how they like it, and if their skills are up to our requirements they will be welcome to join.
Sailing volunteers are asked to arrive about an hour before the sailing times to help rig the boats, meet, greet and generally look after our less able members. We also have training days when boat rigging, sailing, rescue boat operation, first aid, and other skills can be learnt and practiced.
Shoreside volunteers assist in getting our members ready for sailing. They can also be involved in winter maintenance sessions, fundraising, promotional and social events.
We regard ourselves as a mixed ability sailing club, and thus volunteers are also invited to make a small voluntary annual contribution towards the running of the club.
All volunteers will be asked to undergo a check by the Disclosure Barring Service, which is free of charge.
